Right here's my mini-review of Ark of Truth....
Overall I liked the feel of this film....I thought that the entire team got something to do - and the guest stars were good and not just there for "show"....Tim Guinee was exceptional as Tomin - he made the character sympathetic and likeable in his struggle to reconcile his guilt at the atrocities he'd committed in the name of the Ori....the talk between him and Teal'c was one of the highlights of the film for me - in fact Christopher Judge came out of this film extremely well imho - he brought a richness to Teal'c that I hadn't seen before - Bravo !!
Now for the disappointments .....
I'm not a massive Daniel whumper so the lack of whump didn't bother me....what I did want was a longer discussion between him and Morgan La Fey which touched more on Daniel's time ascended and maybe the memories that Merlin gave him during the time of the Quest....I also would have liked to have seen another verbal exchange between Daniel and the Doci like the one we got in S9's Origin....I also would have expected more between him and Adria at the end...after all he really double crossed her in the Shroud and I'd have expected her to have done more to harm him and get her revenge....
"Rambo Cambo" has never been my favourite so the replicator fight could have been shorter - However I did think the effects were fantastic and the replicators are really creepy bad guys - metallic spiders will always be nasty little buggers!!
I liked the "friendship" interchanges between Cam and Sam (although I really felt that was more Amanda Tapping than Sam Carter in the end Infirmary scene - a touch too "cute" for my liking) and I thought that the Vala/Tomin exchanges were heartfelt and rang true - once agan wonderful acting by Tim and Claudia....I saw NO SHIP in this film from anybody and for that I'm grateful....ship belongs in fanfic and not in a science fiction film imho....
Special effects were amazing - the scenery of the mountains made me so excited to be going back to Vancouver in a few days' time and all the supporting cast played their parts well....The music was also stunning - I can't wait to get the soundtrack if it's released on CD...
So overall - yes not enough Daniel and slightly too much Replicator - but on the whole it was worth the wait....
I do think that I would have preferred a slow build up to the end of the Ori by having a Season 11 - but then I'd like Stargate to run forever and ever!!!...
Bring on Continuum - however I just hope the writers are as generous to Daniel in, if what we're led to believe is a more Cam/Sam centric episode, as they were to other characters in this supposedly Daniel storyline of the Ark....somehow I don't think so....but we'll wait and see....
Deeds xx
